Today has just been one of those kinda days. At work, and I have had someone call to ask for directions to the Post office. Okay, I understand we are a real estate company, but you can get our number quicker than the Post Office's? Really?
Not one person has pulled into our parking lot and actually parked in a real parking spot. I've had someone pull up and park between our building and our neighbor's --almost exactly in the middle (which happens to be a roadway that leads to the parking lot. No one could get in or out while this person was parked). I've also had someone come and park perpendicular to our building, slightly tapping it as she parked, like we were a tirestop or something. I only felt it because her car was right outside my desk's window. Ouch.
Oh, and let's not forget the gentleman who called and asked for help buying a property. He put in an offer with his agent, who happens to not work in our office, and we don't have anything to do with the property, but he wants to apply for a federal grant to get money back. Again, sigh, Really??? Ask your agent or ask the government. I have no knowledge about anyone buying any property with cash for profit as an investor getting free money from the government. Sounds like an infomercial, though!

First Snow

Yesterday was our first snow in Crown Point. We had a mix of wind, rain and snow, but nothing stuck to make a pretty white layer on the frozen and wet leaf covered grass.
I will say, however, that it reminded me I need to put my newly knit slouchy hats on my etsy store. The cold wind is brutal to my ears, and I love hats! Pictures to come soon, they are super soft, very thick and very warm. A bit of slouch and a nice puffy ball on the top!

Monday I turned 35. Yesterday, I went to realage.com and took the quiz, and found out I am 35.4 years old with my lifestyle. I can get this number down, I know it.
The days of getting carded are over. When AB and I went to Vegas this month, I didn't get carded once. My young skin is starting to age, even with the help of a great skin care routine. I think stress is the main blame here, but the only way to reduce that is to start a new life.

Summer is gone

Well, that's it. I think summer is over. I woke up this morning and just knew it happened. Last night, it was dark out by 8 pm. This morning, the sun didn't rise until after 6 (at least it felt that way). Its getting darker earlier and light out later. I don't like it one bit.
Where did it go? I already miss summer. I feel like I didn't get to do as much as I wanted. No days at the dunes, no water park. No amusement rides, no road trips.
This morning, AB and I were walking little doggie and talking about summer. I think there was too much work and not enough play this summer. Of course, we did make it to las vegas for a couple days, but it was such a hurried trip, we were exhausted when we came home. Even that trip was too fast.

In a feeling of lost summer, I blurted out that my life is half over...and then I started realizing that yep, I'm almost 35. I am about at mid life here!
I have been in a panic most of the day about this, and its just depressing.

Every morning I walk my dog, Frank, and we come across some part of the neighborhood that is an absolute mess. People pollute and throw trash out all over, they don't even care its on their lawns, which really irks me.

Let's make America beautiful-- one block at a time! Take pride in your lawn. Don't throw out trash on the street or sidewalk. The Wendy's across the street from me always has trash in the parking lot, and the crazy thing is the employees go out there to clean it up once or twice a day! People are just self-obsessed and blind in what they do really impacts and affects the neighborhood or city.

I am going to make it a point to clean up my block this spring. Are you up for a challenge? Messy sidewalks NO MORE!! Poor Frank can't take it!!

I think I have over extended myself. Its a tough realization when i wake up from a dream more tired than when I went to sleep. Last night, I had a dream I was shoveling gravel at my parents home, and when I awoke, I was sore, tired, and my back hurt! Very weird, and a sign I need to r e l a x .

So, this weekend I ave plans to organize. I have a lot going on. I am a Realtor, secretary, crafter, baker, Avon Rep, and writer. Its tough, but there has to be a way to revamp this site to reflect it all.

Product Review: Emergen-C

Let me start off by saying I am NOT A DOCTOR, PHARMACIST, or anyone who matters in the health field. This is not medical advice, and you should do your own research! Okay. That being said, I love this product.
Emergen-C is a vitamin packet unlike any other. Mix the contents of one packet in 4-6 ounces of water. Wait for the fizzing to stop and drink. I feel a burst of calm energy minutes later! Emergen-C is a dietary supplement that comes in a handful of flavors. It boasts that it contains 1,000 mg Vitamin C along with 7 B Vitamins. Why do I love it? I took two trips to Vegas this year, and I didn't pack any of this supplement with the first trip, but then I felt awful after the first night, barely any sleep, and a slight hangover. The sundry shop in Bally's does sell it, but its like $3 for 2 packets! After taking one, I felt better about an hour later. So, for my second trip to Vegas, I packed enough for me and AB...and it paid off! I took one each morning when I woke up and another before we started up for the evening.
I hate being sick, and I try to avoid it at all costs. Unfortunately, that is hard to do sometimes when you work in an office atmosphere and come into contact with a lot of people. Especially during flu season. So, for the past few days I have felt worn out, tired, and achy. Its that time of year. We had a blizzard 2 weeks ago, and now everything is melting and its 50 degrees outside. That screams, "Time to get sick, Lisa!" I have been taking 1-2 packets of this a day for about a week. I do feel better temporarily. They don't taste bad, and you can drink them like a shot if you want. Now, I am not saying this is a miracle cure by any means, I just like it, and I think it does a great job at making me feel better. I highly recommend the Super Orange flavor. Pink Lemonade is good, too.

Winter Warm Up!! About Time!

Its about time for a winter warm up! I am so excited that we will hit (hopefully) 32 degrees tomorrow! What, oh what, will I do?? Hmm...it would be nice to walk the Tank (my doggie) and wear him out. Poor little guy has been homebound and totally stir crazy since the blizzard hit last week. We go potty and come right back in. This morning, it felt warmer,so we took a walk down the street (all the sidewalks are still 2 ft of snow) and he had a great time. The tank was so happy to get out and explore! I am hoping to walk some side streets and drop off my new catalogs to some neighbors.

What are you doing this weekend? I can't wait to make heart shaped sugar cookies tomorrow. Sounds cheesey, but I want to learn how to make and perfectly ice cookies with old fashioned Royal Icing (which is made with egg whites). I also have a great contest coming up for Campaign 7. The winner will get a gift bag worth $125! More on that soon.

Cleaning House

One thing that makes me feel better is cleaning. In the middle of winter and sometime during spring, I like to clean out my closets and thin down the "stuff" I have in my possession. I have learned a few tricks that make it easier to organize and clean out your life:

Do one room or closet at a time.
Get 3 bins to separate your items: donate, sell, keep. I don't usually have a throw out bin, because if its in bad shape, I usually toss it immediately. The walk to the garbage is a nice break, oddly enough.
I put all my Sell Items on Ebay for a 7 or 10 day listing. if the items don't sell, I usually then re-evaluate to keep or give the item away.
Its okay to keep sentimental items. I have a few boxes that are marked with dates or peoples names on them, and this year, I think I am ready to get rid of one or two. Time isn't something you can rush...going or coming.
Its okay to collect things. I have a shoebox filled with pez dispensers and old candy. Yes, I might be able to throw out the candy this year. I also save records.
Clothes that are worn out and don't fit: toss!! If its sentimental, put it in a box!!
Get a tax receipt from the place you donate: Take notes, but you might be able to use the donation as a tax deduction.
Underwear and Bras get worn out and need to be thrown out. If you have a pair of panties that don't fit, just toss them! If you gain or lose weight and need that size again, guess what? You can buy another pair.
Makeup doesn't last forever--neither does hair spray. If your makeup is over a year old, you should probably toss it. The most popular colors are usually rarely changed or discontinued. You can check online to see before you toss the old one to make sure.

Winter Blahs

Today has been a wonderful surprise-- above freezing! Even though it wasn't sunny, it was still in the mid 30s, which felt like a balmy fall day. How sad is that? I walked Frank (my dog) twice around the neighborhood, feeling the slushy melting snow under my boots. The lack of sun did not help motivate me, but I packed up some catalogs to pass out tomorrow when we walk.
One of the problems I have with winter is my dry skin. I am not normally a person who slathers on the creams, body lotions, or hand salves. But, this winter has done a number on my 34 year old skin. I have upgraded my nightly ritual to the Anew reversalist night moisturizer and the Footworks Overnight Renewing Cream. I put a thick layer on my feet and covered them with slipper socks.

Adult Acne

This is a tough one. I suffer from Adult Acne. It comes and goes, but this morning I woke up with a blemish on my nose. Its a bit embarrassing, but life happens.
Here are a few tips I have found to help when I do get a break out:

Washing your face too often and with water thats too hot can cause excessive dryness. I know this is what you want, a dry face, but when you dry it out too much, your skin works harder to produce oil. You will actually end up with oiler or greasy skin later in the day.
Always use make-up remover before you wash your face. I also clean my brushes about once a week with a mild face wash.
Dirty Phones!! Clean your cell phone and any other phones with a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball or a paper towel every few days.
Don't touch your face. This is the worst for me. Every time you use your computer, play with the remote, etc., and then touch your face, you are spreading germs and bacteria. They love to cause skin problems.

Some of my skin care favorites:

Clinique 3 step system. No, its not cheap, but if you suffer from severe acne (like I did a few years ago), its worth a try. Be diligent with it, use it every morning and night. Don't forget one step, either.
Mark Calming Effect Cleanser. I love this, especially in the summer. Its very gentle.
Anew Rejuvenate and Reversalist Moisturizers. These R-O-C-K! They make them in day and night formulas, the day version has an SPF in them. They are great and feel like a special treat each time I put them on.
Honorable mentions: Anew Rejuvenate Cleanser: The moisturizer is a MUST, but the cleanser can be a little harsh for my skin. I use it, but I limit it to once a day. Aveeno: I like this any time, its mild and doesn't dry me out like other store brands.

Back Working!

Back from Vegas. Happy to be home.
AB didn't play as much blackjack as he was hoping to, and I had a migraine on our first full day there, which put me out of commission for an evening. I would like to go back, but we'll see when AB is up for another trip.
I did get invited to a slot tournament in December-- hopefully that will do for AB or my sister-- I don't want to go alone.
One thing I did notice in Vegas is that bling is back and in fashion- big time!! Every shop, every casino, every show we went to-- Bling Bling is the thing!!

All Signs Point to VEGAS

Every year, AB takes me to Las Vegas for my birthday. Our trip is here, and I can't wait! I am frantically trying to pack, clean, finish work, and finish some Etsy projects all in like 24 hours. AB is so excited, too-- which makes me happy. He's been practicing his blackjack (oh yeah, I need to do that!) and picking out restaurants for us to eat at. I'm happy as long as I get to go to the Paris buffet for breakfast one morning and make it out to Bill's for a 4 am steak and eggs breakfast.

What's your favorite must do in Vegas? (Ah yes, and I need batteries for my camera, too)

Last month, when I went there with the sisters for the bachelorette party, I played and fell in love with Sex & the City slot machines! To play, it costs $2/pull, but its worth it when its hot. I had so much fun, I got the Miranda progressive (like $35!) twice. I can't wait to go and play the S&TC game again! I also love Keno, and I will be getting a few games set up as soon as we get there. I like to play at least 20 games off the bat, so the next morning I can check to see if I've won anything.

Alright, back to the grind. I will take and post lots of pictures when I get back!!

Everyone's jobs are at risk

A few months back, I distinctly remember being at the gas station talking to the lady next to me, also filling up her car. She was talking about the latest Twilight movie (I hadn't seen or read any in the series, so she was telling me just how much I was missing out!!), and I noticed she was wearing a shirt that said Blockbuster on it. I asked her if she worked at Blockbuster, and she said yes. Then, I asked her if she was worried about her job security there, with all the Redboxes in our town. BTW, I love Red Box!! It rocks and is very convenient.
"I work in a corporate Blockbuster. I will have my job until I retire." She said this and smugly got into her vehicle and drove off. She was probably my age, in her thirties, but looked older than me. I know she thought I was younger, because she called me "hun".

Now, Blockbuster is in trouble. I can't remember when the last time I was in Blockbuster, and its next door to the grocery store, which I go to every other day. I don't go to the movies but a few times a year, just because I don't have enough time in the day to do everything I want to do, but if I could, I would seclude myself in a matinée once a week, pending there are good movies out there!! My point is that this woman probably has all her eggs in one basket. She is a proud Blockbuster employee (and there is nothing wrong with that) but she had nothing else to talk about to the total stranger---except movies. I am sure she is a pleasant people person, but right now, I wonder if she is quietly typing out her resume, just in case.

My sister T just got laid off this week. She was off work for almost a year, went back for a few months, and not laid off yet again. It happens to the best of us, and it happens to most of us at one time or another during a recession. If it wasn't for Avon, I would have had a super minimal Christmas back in 2008, when the market tanked horribly and no one was buying homes. For that, I stand by my Avon business and I am grateful for it.

The start up for Avon is super minimal: $10. Yep. Ten bucks. My district manager gave me all the books I would need and even some samples when I signed up, too. I started attending my manager's monthly meetings to learn all I could. I left my books everywhere. I took advantage of the discounts for my first few campaigns to stock up on supplies and gifts for my family, which they loved!! I also took advantage of the online training Avon provides to gain knowledge about the products---and I learned a lot about perfume and makeup application.

Jillian Michaels kicks my butt!!

I woke up this morning and did my 30 day Shred workout by Jillian Michaels. Its roughly 30 minutes and kicks my butt. I am so sweaty afterwards!! I am awake the rest of the day, though, when I do the workout.

AB is making a seafood dish for dinner tonight. Last night, I had salad for dinner and 4 cinnamon graham crackers for a snack later. Not the healthiest.

Getting in shape isn't easy. I love to eat, and its a lot of work and pretty hard to stop a habit like eating for fun. But, I have determined the best way to curb my eating habits is to keep myself busy all weekend long!

I have to make 5 wristlet purses for the first vegas trip of the season for my sisters me and my mom. I also started a new etsy shop, and I need to make a few items for that. My Avon order comes in today, so I will be busy in a few hours sorting and invoicing all my deliveries to make this weekend. Lastly-- K and I need to find some great red shoes to wear with our bridesmaids dresses for Ts wedding. Plus, I like sleep-- lots of sleep if I can.

My sister K and I have been walking this week. Monday we walked about a mile and yesterday it was 1.35 miles. I've also started writing down everything I eat in a notebook. I didn't think that would do the trick, but I found I won't eat something because I don't want it to look bad in the book!! This morning I worked out to Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. It was my first time in about a month with this workout, so I only lasted a little over halfway through.

Does anyone here have any secrets that could help me? I know I won't lose 40 lbs in two weeks, but I plan on losing at least 15 in one month. K kept saying, "we can eat pizza after the wedding." I agree with her, but I also want to be able to indulge in Vegas, too. We go there in about two weeks for the bachelorette party. I need to be able to fit in my swimsuit and have the energy to last. Believe it or not, I am averaging at 9 hours of sleep/night. On the weekends, sometimes I get 10 or 11, counting naps on Saturday afternoon.

Oh fall is here and I am super busy with sis's wedding stuff-- including the rad bachelorette party we are having in vegas!!

I looked at my two bathing suits last night, which were tucked away, stuffed all the way at the back of a shelf, under things I haven't worn in a few years. I looked at them and thought, "I am not going to fit in this!!" So, this morning, I woke up and took a walk. I need to tone up, shed some weight, and get ready for a good time in three weeks.

Let me start all over!!! lol.

I am super excited about sis's wedding next month and her bachelorette party at the end of this month-- which so happens to be in party city itself, Vegas!!

But first, being a bridesmaid isn't easy. There is a lot to do. K and I have been helping my mom with the bridal shower, and I cannot wait until its done. I hope T gets some good prezzies and has a good time!! I still have to get her a gift, but I will probably do that this weekend.

Being an Avon rep does make it easy, though. T picked out a few necklaces for the bridesmaids and flower girl to wear, and we got them at a great price (on sale plus my discount---good deal!!).

I do want to loose some weight between now and the end of september, though. I want to increase my energy level and be able to fit in one of my bathing suits comfortably!! (see upsetting rant above).

Once the wedding is over, I am hoping to throw an Avon party to get ready for the Christmas holiday season. Everyone of my clients from the past year will be invited!! So, if you are looking for a fun afternoon at the end of October--- email me today and make sure to get on my mailing list!!

Long Weeks Ahead

What a crazy week.
I got my car back!! Yeah!! A couple hundred dollars later...some important things that make the car run had to be replaced.
Last weekend, I rode my bike to AB's house. AB lives on the other side of town...through many hills. It took me 29 minutes and I was sooo happy I did it! I usually ride my bike to ABs a few times a summer, but this year, I could really use the workout-- I have 4 weddings this year (a co-worker, 2 siblings, and a cousin). I think the first wedding is in May, so I am running out of get in shape time. I had to take a shower when I got to his house because I was so sweaty and gross. Good thing I keep plenty of clothes there! I have a drawer just full of things like tshirts, sweatpants and socks. At 25-30 minutes each way, I will really get a good workout if I ride my bike there a few times a week.

Its all gotta go.

And now, I must get back to work. I have pot roast in the crockpot for dinner-- we are having pot roast sandwiches with potato salad tonight. That roast will be super tender and last all weekend for little yum yum sammies!!!

No car again

Well, here we go again, there is no car...I'm hoping to get it back today. My brother really did a good job, but there was this weird thing that happens when I brake...it revs. I do have a showing today, but I will be riding my bike there. If you think that's silly, well, I don't. The showing is 12 blocks away from my office, it will be around 80 today, and this client knows I don't have a vehicle but is still demanding to see this house. So, I will ride my bike there.

I'm not scared of a little exercise or what people will think of me-- I've shown her homes before.

My sluggish Cures

Well, today was a long day-- I worked, showed some homes, delivered some avon, saw my sister, talked to my brother (he has my car again....but I don't have the energy to talk about its new problems), and now I will see AB and relax. Tacos tonight!!

Whenever I am feeling sluggish or not 100%, I have a few cure alls:

The fruit and yogurt parfait at McDonalds. Its delicious and I really think it helps me feel better.
Fresh squeezed orange juice. I mean, F R E S H. I go to the store, buy 2-3 oranges, and squeeze them myself and drink asap. Delicious and really fixes me.
Water or Vitamin water. I only drink the Revive or Essential. When Vitamin water first started selling in the health food stores (1999-ish), it was very pale in color and had more natural flavor. Essential, the orange one, looked like watered down orange juice with sediment at the bottom. My sis and I drank it like it was going out of style...or going into...whatever you prefer.
tylenol. I take 2 tylenol when I have a headache. doesn't always work, but helps.
Smelling AB. He smells good. I think he wears Armani Code, but I'm not sure. Mix that with a bit of his sweat and a hint of garlic (he eats lots of garlic), and I feel better real quick!
Over Easy Eggs. They must be fresh and served with buttered toast...not toasted light, toasted well done.

Car Update

Well, I got my car back last night!! God bless my brother-- he replaced the fuel filter, all spark plugs and boots (what's a boot?) and now my car feels like it has more power and not revving when I am stopped at a light!!
He said my spark plugs were fried and needed replacing.
Now, I have a powerful monster of a car. Its a definite wake up call that I will need to get a new car this fall. I am going to start saving all my avon money and hopefully Avon will pay for my new car in the next 6 months!! I think its very possible, too.

One of my regulars came to pick up her last order today. We were talking about how we keep extra deodorants around...one in the car, one in the desk at work, one in my bathroom, one in my boyfriends bathroom...and the best part? Avon's deodorants are around 99 cents each (sometimes 89 cents when they are on sale!!). Roll Ons dry without leaving a "goo" on your skin. They smell great and work just as good as the $3-5 dollar varieties at the drugstore.
For every $1 deodorant you buy at my website, I will be 20 cents closer to paying for my new car!! lol.
Actually, I do love Avon's deodorants. My favorite is the skin so soft signature silk. It has a nice smell and works pretty good. You might not be able to run a marathon with it, but you can work in the office or run errands without offending anyone!

Well, I am in the spirit, just not wearing green!

What a long day!! I had to do a bpo, which took an abnormal 5 hours!! Usually, I can belt one out in 2 hours. Not today. Nope. Also, I would like to think I am busy for the season (in real estate), but sometimes I think I am going super slow. I need some buyers and sellers!! I am sending about a dozen buyers lists of homes, but no one is looking right now. Not good! Offers need to be accepted by April 30 for the tax credit.

I put in my Avon order for this catalog, and it was huge!! That makes me happy, but ultimately fearing next years taxes after this years!!

My car kinda crapped out this week. I know my car is getting old, I got in 03, but I was hoping for another 6 months with it at least. Right now, its at my brother's home, he will try to fix it first. He is very sweet and let me borrow his work car, which isn't in the best shape, but runs.
I'm hoping the problem is fixable and under $300.

This morning, I came to work ready to face the day. I usually check my emails before I leave for work, but each morning I do, I am upset before the day starts. I hope for a sale in my etsy shop, an online order in my avon online store, an email with a new order, or some fun note from a sibling or parent. Usually-- its more like this: notes of things to do from bossman, bills now available for review and payment, spam, spam, sales at sears and jcpenneys (when I have no fun money to spend), and invites for broker open houses on days I am already working in the office.
I said today, "Don't get mad before the day begins. I'll check my mail when I get to work." My main problem is that my work emails get forwarded to my personal email address....so I can check them when ever...where ever.
Guess what! My all pinks beaded hair barrette sold this morning on Etsy. I had a sale on my Avon online store. Its a wonderful day. I'm battling taxes and I am working for bossman, but I am happy!!

Tonight, I get to see AB. He worked a super long day yesterday, so we didn't get a chance to see each other. I know he will be happy about my sales, both on Avon and Etsy. Going through bill by bill and receipt by receipt is awful!! Its sooo time consuming and not worth it. I'm scared I will have to break down and get an accountant to help me. I've never done taxes for Avon before...the other schedule Cs I have down pat, but this one will be a bit different, because there is inventory, give aways, etc.

Avon allows you to make your own schedule and do what you want with it. Many people don't know the benefits of working as an Independent Contractor-- like me (an Avon Sales Rep).

Becoming an Avon Rep is easy. Its a nominal fee of $10 to get you started. When I joined, my district manager gave me catalogs and samples to help me get started. I wrote my name on each book with my phone number and dropped them off at the grocery store (next to the homes magazines), the pizza place, and two chinese restaurants. I left a few at the post office on a table. I handed them to my sisters. And, guess what? A week later, I had a few orders. I still do the same thing each week, and I always get a few orders. Its as simple as that. If I had more time, I might walk from door to door hanging catalogs on everyone's steps, but I just don't have enough time in the day.

the nightmare (of getting married)

How embarassing! I woke up from a vampire nightmare around 5:15 am. Got up, walked around (to make sure there were none hiding!), grabbed some water and went back to bed. Woke up again around 7 from another nightmare--- AB was going to propose!
Now, that shouldn't be a nightmare...that should be a reason to celebrate. Its something I hope for everyday....and something I hope to one day experience. In my dream, we were in some kind of mall, and he had gotten a flyer of some sort from a jeweler. He said we needed to talk, and I saw a glimpse of the flyer---which was full of pictures of different engagement rings...and I ran!
I ran to find my mom and tell her. I was scared he wanted me to pick out my own ring (I don't want to, thats his job and he has great taste!). I was scared I wasn't ready. After I found my mom, we got lost. Then, I went to a small kiosk looking for a girly product, but I had no money, so I stole it! It didn't make any sense, but I woke up just as scared as the vampire nightmare. The only good thing about the vampire nightmare -- I know I stabbed one of them and they turned to dust. I also had a sword in my hand and waved it around violently and expertly, in my opionion.

Am I scared AB might be ready? Am I not?? He already told me one day we could have a dog...I know he is coming around to that, but....whats wrong with me???

Maybe taping some lipstick samples to some catalogs will help me ease my mind. Yes, the catalogs I put out at the grocery stores have samples. I think samples are the best way to get new customers.

Therapeutic Cracked Heel Relief Cream (on sale $1.99!!) This stuff is thick and creamy. I put it on after my shower. If you have cracked heels--- I feel like it works magic! Three days in a row and you will feel a difference.
Footworks Overnight Renewing Foot Cream (on sale $4.99) You really should put socks on after applying this silky cream. It has tiny moisture beads that activate as you rub the cream into your foot. I apply it all over, from my toes to my ankles!! Yes, put socks on to lock in the power of the cream and you will be amazed at how soft your feet feel when you wake up the next morning. I only need to use this one once or twice a week in the dry of winter.
Footworks Pedi Peel ($3.99) You get 22 little pads. Use one on each foot on the rough areas only. Avon recommends using every other day, but I have only used these a few times all winter, because the other creams really do the trick. This is my "I've been slacking and my dry rough heels are scaring AB" remedy.

Getting Carded in your 30s

Sure, it was fun when you were 21. It was like, "Take that you judging adult! I am old enough to legally buy this beer!!"
It was annoying when you are 25. I have been old enough to buy beer or wine for like 4 years now!!
When you are 33, its unbearable! Yes, folks: Today I was carded. I was carded buying a lottery ticket!! A lottery ticket in which you need to be 18 to purchase!! It wasn't a guy or a bitch. It was a nice older lady at a gas station. She asked for my ID.
"Not to be rude, but I left it in the car. Its a complete impulse buy. I'm 33 years old."
"Well, I am not sure if you are 18."
So, I went to my car to prove it to her...Yes, I am 33. She apologized afterwards and told me I don't look my age. Insert foot, yes, I know you are just doing your job, but c'mon!! I'm 33!!! I know I look at least in my mid 20s.

So, that was my day. People in line were mad that I had to go to my car to get my license. I had $10 in my hand to get some gas...and I decided at the last minute to buy a lotto powerball ticket. My fault...really!!
Maybe that ANEW really does the trick!! It doesn't hurt, that's for sure!!

Is love measurable?

I was listening to the radio this morning, on my way to work. Humming along to "I love you so much." Is that possible? If you say,'I love you so much' can you say 'I love you a little'?
How about a plain...I love you.
I love AB, really, I do. And, I always catch myself telling him, "AB, I love you soooo much."
How much?? I'm such a dork. I don't think its really measurable. You love someone or you don't. Now, you can like...something...in a measurable amount. You can like things just alright, plenty good, tons, a little, some, or not at all. You can't like someone sooo much or just a bit.
I love my sisters. I love my brother and my family. I love them...simple as that. Now, I can get mad and be upset and grumpy at them, but it will never change how I feel about them...or how much love I have for them.
Let's stop saying all together how much do we love thee?? Sure, you can count the ways, but not the measurement of true love.
Just a little food for thought.

Our totals were about 8 inches of snow here in Indiana. I know many more of you are dealing with more....and some of you less...but 8 inches can be a lot if you don't like driving or commuting in this weather!! I really want a frozen pizza for dinner but don't want to go out and get it.
Please say a prayer for my sis, Kiki. She is under the weather. Thank goodness she has the day off work tomorrow, but I worry so much about her---she works in a grocery store (and does she have the stories to boot!!) and deals with mass amounts of public---can you say, "Germs?"
So, I hope she feels better soon, she won't have another day off until Tuesday.
Its a full craft night here in lisas home. A very messy, unorganized craft night.
I have a showing first thing in the morning, and AB will be previewing the Chicago Auto Show (yes, he is privledged and gets to go before anyone else) tomorrow, so I will have two great craft days in a row. Yes, I need to go to work, too, but that's only 8 hours of my day.
I need to organize (my thoughts included).

Are you covered in snow today? Here in Indiana, we got about one inch, which is not bad. Of course, the blowing and drifts are reminescent to the Indiana Dunes, which are amazing. Giant mountains of sand against Lake Michigan. If you are ever driving through Northern Indiana, you must stop and check it out!
This morning, after cleaning my car that looked like a small hill of snow, I went to the post office. I sold 2 scarves on my online Etsy store. I am so excited to now have 6 sales under my belt. That's pretty good, but not good enough. My etsy store and my Avon business will hopefully help finance not only my retirement but also my true love: to open a bakery.
My bakery has been in the works for a long time, since I was 20. Its been a dream, and hopefully it will come true next year. Even though I would term it a bakery, it will be more of a general store. I want to have home-made candles, soaps, and knitted goods too. I will also serve fresh fruit juices and sandwiches with a little cafe in the corner. Sounds over the top or too busy to some, but I have thought about it long and hard. I want to use as much of the local produce and fare that I can, I think it will not only bring in customers and loyalty, but it will also keep our area thriving. If the property I rent has the space, I want to have a small greenhouse to grow produce and herbs, too. Its a dream, but I have to get it going. I know both of my sisters would work for me, but I need upfront capital so I can pay them---thus, Etsy better get going soon!! lol.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend--- its sunny here now, but I don't know how long it will last. If you are covered in snow, settle down with a book or mag and just chill. I'm going to try not to watch tooo much tv this weekend, its been too depressing lately.

Bridezillas. I never thought I would see one in person. Unfortunately, I have it one step further: I am watching my sister metamorphis into one. Its an ugly sight.
I think there is still hope, I am praying there is still hope.
I love her so much, but its all she talks about and thinks about. Her wedding. Her wedding is in October. Nine months away. Now, call me silly, but some people are pregnant for 9 months, but they might not know it until the second or third month. If it was a lovely accident, thats only 7 or 8 months to plan a life. When the mom and dad to be go to birthing class, they don't learn about just labor...they learn about nutrition, healthy habits during and after the pregnancy, what to expect during labor, how to breast feed, it just goes on and on. Now, in a sense, sister is planning a life...a lifelong marriage. Interestingly enough, she has not talked about being married....only the wedding day. When you have a child, you don't just talk about the birthing day...for all nine months. You talk about feeding, raising, daily ins and outs, everything!!

Yesterday, it was the limo. She needs to give the limo service (she hasn't picked one yet) an itenary of the big day, but she hasn't decided on a time to have the actual wedding service yet! She also expects us to get a ride from someone to the salon to get our hair done, and she wants the limo to pick us up from there...to go back to my house. But, first, we all need to get rides to the salon. Someone has to drop us off to get our hair "did". Its so confusing and doesn't make a lick of sense to me. I am not married, so yep, your right. I don't know.
I do know that a wedding is one day. A marriage is hopefully forever. Focus on the marriage.

Dry Skin? Winter got you down? Here are some tips to get back your glowing skin in no time:

During winter, our skin loses moisture quickly. Try to reduce your shower time (even if by one minute...it makes a difference) and also your water temperature. I love (love) hot showers, but during the winter, I try to go a bit cooler. Not ice cold, but a few degrees cooler. Immediately moisturize your face, body, and rough spots after showering.
Want to be amazed? Try spraying or applying skin so soft body and shower oil on your knee caps, legs, elbows, and other rough spots before you hop in the shower. Shower as usual, lather up and rinse off. You will be amazed at how smooth those rough spots are afterwards!! My roughest spot: my kneecaps. Its bad. I spray a bit of the oil on them and hop in, and they are smooth and looking good afterwards!!
Rinse hair in cooler water right before jumping out of the tub or shower for shiny and healthy look locks-- 20-30 seconds is plenty of time to lock in the shine!
Gnarly feet? Winter is a time when we wear heavier socks and lots of them, so when bed time hits and we are lying next to a loved one, the last thing we want to do is scare them off with feet of steel! Soak feet in warm water and smooth on Footworks Intensive Callus Cream or Conditioning lotion. All Footworks products work great and don't smell medicine-y at all. After a few days, you would swear your feet are ready for flip flops! (they might even gain enough attention for a foot rub, too!)
Body scrubs work great if you need them, but don't use them daily. Constant sloughing off the rough spots during winter can cause more dryness and get you in an endless cycle of scrubbing. Scrub weekly, if needed. Use a thicker body lotion or moisturizer after every shower and even before bed, if necessary. I like Intensive Therapy by Avon. It is super strong. If you have sensitive skin, look for a fragrance free product at your local pharmacy or grocery store. Clinique also has a few that are tested, fragrance free, and super lightweight.

I submitted my blog to the frogpond yesterday on BzzAgent.com. If you haven't been there before, its a fun site. You sign up (its free) and complete a few surveys.
Companies basically send free or low cost items to bzz agents to "buzz" or talk up. I have been a bzz agent for a couple years, and I like it. About 3-4 times a year, I am asked to participate in a campaign. One of my favorite campaigns was for Florida's Natural Orange Juice. Bzz sent me a bunch of $1.00 off coupons to pass out to my friends and free orange juice coupons for me to try and see if I like. I commit to promising to log in to bzzagent.com everytime I talk about the product and kinda log in and write what happened, did I pass out a coupon, etc. That's it. I only buy Florida's Natural orange juice now, because I love it, the oranges and fruits come from Florida, and it supports US farmers.
Well, you can submit websites, products, tv shows, anything to Bzzagent.com. I submitted my blog...what you are reading, yesterday. This morning, there were a few reviews about my blog that were less than exciting. I found out I am boring.
So, my goal, if you stick with me, is to be less boring.
I promise.
I will rant about the person that had the nerve to say she didn't have time to read someone's personal blog about nothing. Yeah? Well, how do you have time to just read random sites on bzzagent.com?? No one has a gun to your head, dumbass!!! If you don't have time, don't go to the frogpond---you don't have to! You don't have to go to the frogpond, its completely optional. These are the type of people I can't stand. They are sooo important, and sooo busy, but they have the time to stop and tell you they don't have time for something or that you are less of a person than them.
I'm a nice person who gives away tons of free Avon. Did you know that you horrible person that spent all of 20 seconds on my site?? (yes, I have a stat tracker, and I am somewhat a smart person who can figure out that only one person from Washington viewed my blog and your profile says you are from Washington). Is 20 seconds long enough for a first impression from someone who really doesn't like people who's lives are okay??

I'm having a bad day and I need help.
I'm calling out to all of you.
I am eating cookies at the office right now, had a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich for lunch, but I'm in trouble.
Tonight, AB and I are making pizza for dinner. I got a big ball of mozzarella cheese and the pizza crust in the tube (pillbury maybe?).
I don't know what happened. Maybe its from stress. Maybe its from overworking. Regardless, I am junking out today!!
The pizza could be okay if I keep it veggie and not too much cheese. Did I say its fresh mozz?? The kind in the ball, soaked in brine, oohhey gooey goodness....yum!
Wish me luck, I need to stop snacking today!!

I'm just taking a small break from cleaning and de-cluttering my home this weekend. I also am making items for my etsy shop, which makes it hard to de-clutter.

This week, I will have face or dishcloths on my etsy store, which makes me really happy. They are all cotton, made in the usa, and a good size for either your face or the dishes. I like using them for my face, but sponges collect so much dirt, grime, and bacteria. Dishcloths may be old fashioned, but you can wash and bleach them.

Well, beauty busters-- I snapped at my sister today. I don't know why. Oh, wait! Yes I do: Because I need food!!!! That's why!!
Resolution: Lose Weight.
This one sucks. I have been trying to eat more fruits, veggies, whole grains, less fat, etc, but today I feel like my body is going through junk food detox. I'm frantically looking around the office for something...anything...snickers, chocolate, french fries (not really, but you get the idea.) Its tough. I know I can do it, but its hard.
Last night, I went with a sister ice skating. It was my first time, and I had a lot of fun, but I was too tense. My body hurt from being all tensed up. Around 8:30, I started getting hungry. I hadn't ate yet because I had a late lunch, so I took a walk to Wendy's and got a small chili and walked back home. I know its not the best thing for me, but in terms of fast food, I thought chili was a good choice. If I tried to make something, I would have been still hungry and waiting at 9pm. Wendy's chili does have red meat, but it also has beans and veggies (I've seen them in there!), so I felt okay with that.
AB is making dinner tonight, so I can't wait to see and taste what he prepares. He is a really good cook, and he enjoys cooking...so you know there is a lotta love in it. I haven't seen him for a few days and I miss him. I might even bring some yarn to crochet with tonight, too. Before dinner, though, is Avon catalog delivery. I need to hit a few stores and chinese restaurants and drop off some books so I don't have to wake up so early on Saturday.

Winter Skin? The solution for you

I am a user of Anew. I love the Rejuvenate cleanser and moisturizer. But, on Sunday, I ran out of my cleanser. There were no others in my reserve supply (every good avon gal keeps a supply of extra products for her clients last minute needs!). Well, I did have a tube of Winter Solutions Fabuously Clean face cleanser. I had no other choice.

Guess What? Its great!! This cleanser (item 615-449) is very creamy, does not foam up as much as other cleansers, but makes me feel squeaky clean. Honestly, I don't care for the smell, but its only face soap. It isn't fruity or chemically smelling. It just smells like soap.

In the past few days, I have not noticed any differences in my skin. I still do follow with my moisturizer. (its super important to moisturize!!)

What? Snow in January? How silly.

I know what you're thinking...how could you get snow in January? Christmas and the New Year are over, shouldn't it start getting warmer? Wrong. Ha ha, that's just how people in my area are acting today. Shocked they woke up to an inch or two of the fluffy white stuff. Breaking News: That's what happens during winter in Indiana...it snows!!
I wish I had a picture, but I was up at 7 am, shoveling my walk, because thats what you do when it snows. Shovel and clean. No big deal, yet everyone here is acting that way.

My hands are really dry and rough today, but no fear. I used Vita Moist hand lotion and felt better seconds later. AB loves the Intensive Moisture Therapy, and even keeps some on the counter in his clubhouse (the garage). Really works well with dry hands and is super cheap!

AB and I had planned to go to Graceland last summer, but it never happened. We were both busy, and well...maybe this spring! Anyway, happy birthday to the King of Pop--someone who really made a impact on Rock & Roll.

Today is my Avon Delivery day. I think I am at the end of my driver's route...sometimes he shows up at 1, sometimes, its pushing 4:30. This was a small order, maybe the smallest in 6 months! That's okay, there are so many new products Avon has coming out in the next 3 catalogs that I don't mind. Plus, people are done with shopping right now...I have cringed thinking of going out---I have so much from Christmas, I don't need anything. Its been a rough start to my resolutions, how about you?
Today, I did send out 11 letters to expired listings in my town. I estimated that I need to make at least 10 contacts each weekday to get the sales I want. I will revisit this in February to see how many call backs/listings/buyers I get.
AB gave me a couple of kiwis the other day, so I have one today for a healthy snack, I'll probably eat that when I'm done with this.
I am refusing to watch the Bachelor this season, so I will be spending my evening with my balance ball -- anything will be better than that show--I am fed up with it!! It doesn't seem real and makes single women look cold, catty, and vicious.
Okay. That's about it. I'm working, taking a break, wondering when will it get warmer?

I am a huge beatles fan. So much so, that I have a permanent reminder of them on my toe. Yes, I have a green apple tattooed on my toe. The beatles are part of my daily life. Every Sunday, Teri Hemmert plays 2 hours of beatles and beatle related music (8-10 am central). You can stream it live on your computer so you can listen anywhere-- and its amazing. One of my favorite radio programs by far!! Teri has a soothing voice that invokes fun filled feelings as she shares her knowledge and memories of the fab five, and Professor Mop Top tells us tons of quirky recording facts that I haven't found elsewhere. Its really neat and a special reason to wake up early on sleep in Sundays.

Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope my family likes the gifts they got--- most of my gifts were Etsy finds or Avon Deals! All the gals got Avon Slippers, my sister got Strawberry Shortcake buttons from Etsy and my bother and other sister got photographs to frame from lorimackay photograpy on Etsy. My brother got a welding hat and socks-- from all three sisters. I made his fiance a beret in her favorite color, and my sister's fiance got a copy of the newest family guy star wars parody.

I always worry I don't get people nice enough gifts. I worry I don't spend enough or that I look cheap. I refuse to from now on. Yesterday, I was so worried....and I really did good. I hope AB liked his gifts. He is a tough one to shop for, and I didn't spend a lot, but I put a lot of thought into his presents. I made him a stocking cap in brown (as he asked for), some luggage, his favorite coffee, and some hand cream and a movie. I want to buy him clothes, but I am so worried he won't like what I pick out or it won't fit. He loves cars, but I don't have enough to buy him one (yet...one day), and he loves beer (but he makes his own, so I don't want to buy him beer).

Before you know it, we will be in 2010 and I will have my resolutions written and put off to the side. And then, June will be here and I will still not have accomplished anything! lol, its horrible, but hopefully, it will be different this year.

I woke up this morning with all intentions to go shopping super early. Penneys was opening at 6 am (gasp!) and walmart never closes, so I planned on waking up around 6 and getting out the door around 6:30.
Still dark, the sky glistened with little bits of glitter...big monster snow flakes, to be exact! That delayed me until around 7:30--but I did it-- got to JCPenney's and Walmart, got some gas, and went to the grocery store (and even dropped off Avon Catalogs at Jewel and Bronkos) and made it home by 10:30 am.
So, I spent this morning making cookies, doing dishes and making some cabbage soup. Now, I am ready for a nap but its only 2 pm. I figure I will head to AB's house around 6:30/7 for pizza and a movie (it is date night). But, from now until then, this is the perfect opportunity to do some well needed cleaning. My home looks like Avon, the yarn fairy, and santa claus threw up all over it!

I am excited to announce that I have a handful of goodies to put on Etsy monday morning. I made a basic beret in sunshine, some dishcloths, the hair scrunchies I still haven't put up there, a large potholder/trivet in sage green, and maybe one more hat if I have time.

My gram Honey once told me that moisturizer was very important to your skin. I was about 12 and thought the woman was crazy. Years later, in my 20s, I suffered from acne and an oily T-zone. I worked briefly for Clinique one winter. The beauty advisors there told me I should be using moisturizer. Are you crazy? I thought-- my skin is soo oily!! But, I tried it, and loved the results! Within 2 weeks, my skin changed dramatically and I noticed my breakouts to a serious minimum (like 1 compared to 4 at a time!!)
With winter weather, our skin dries out pretty quick. Even if you have an oily T-zone or you think your skin is extra oily or dry, you should still use moisturizer. My skin has been overly dry this past week, which gets annoying quickly! Make sure to drink plenty of water in winter months when the weather is cold. Its very easy to drink hot cocoa, tea, or coffee, but don't forget your water and juices!! Staying hydrated helps. I also take a multivitamin during the winter, when I tend to eat more breads and pastas and less fresh vegetables and fruits.
What is the best kind of moisturizer for you? Avon offers many types of skin care products, in various price ranges. If you are young (under 25) you might want to try the solutions and clearskin brands. Clearskin professional is Avon's comparable product to ProActive. My sister and brother use them and love them. I, in my early 30s, like the Anew Rejuvenate brand. I have a sister who is 31 and uses the Liiv Botanical line of skin care. She uses the night moisturizer both during the day and in the evening. The day version has an spf, but since she mostly works indoors in the winter, she can use the same one and save a bit of money.
Avon Solutions and Avon Basics both offer a less price alternative to a basic moisturizer. These are great if you don't feel like you are ready to target problem areas yet (like aging skin, acne prone skin, or extra dry/oily skin).

I have noticed that I get more breakouts when I don't moisturize. Its one easy step to feeling both vibrant and relaxed each day.

Oh I love my sisters! I really do, they are my best friends.
I have a funny story to tell, though. Today, I got a Christmas card from my sister (who just got engaged to her boyfriend). It was from "Mr. & Mrs. [boyfriends's last name]"
WHAT??
Inside was a picture of them and a save the date announcement. Funny, according to the envelope...you are ALREADY MARRIED!! Was she just practicing? I have no clue why she did that!
I love my sister, but I think she is jumping the gun on this. I don't think its proper to call yourself a Mrs when you are not (yet). You are jinxing yourself, aren't you??

Granted, I love AB (amazing boyfriend) and I would love it if he was ready to pop the question. Heck, I even thought about doing it myself, but my mom didn't think it was a good idea. He's the type of guy that would want to ask me, not the other way around. If we were engaged, I wouldn't call myself Mrs. AB...until the wedding ring is on and we are announced as such.

Puttin Up the Tree

That's right. Home from work and happy to put up my tree, watch a rerun of The Office and just relax. I think I might retake some pics for my etsy shop and browse the new Avon catalog to see what's new.
I missed putting up my tree last year---yep, missed it! This year, I want to really try to be in the Christmas Spirit-- I will embrace the songs (as my local radio station is already playing holiday tunes only), get out my gloves, and seek out to find some candy canes. Besides, putting up my tree gets me to clean my living room.
I didn't get to do any shopping today, but I do have a few presents I might get wrapped up early. Get any good deals??

Learning Beauty isn't just learning about makeup...or Avon, for that matter. Its my daily quest to better myself.
Real Estate has been tough this year. Even though I don't talk about it much, I enjoy it and I am happy its my full time career. I do hope, one day, to open a bakery when I retire. Sounds funny, but its my dream.
Along the way, I have picked up being an Avon Lady. I have also decided to sell my fabulous creations on Etsy (www.lisaleeworks.etsy.com).
I think buying handmade and local are important in keeping your area thriving. Yep, sure we can go online to amazon or walmart and get tons of things shipped right to our door. When you use a local Rep for a world-wide company or an artist who crafts something unique and special for you, you are helping the local and American economy where it matters most---it will directly affect that one rep or artist. Sure, buying from Walmart and Amazon can save money, might be less hassle, and still helps Americans...I am not denying that. I just think it makes a greater difference locally. I also love farmers markets. I would rather go to my city's farmers' market on Saturday mornings and pay a bit more for something that was grown local (even though the grocery store might be cheaper and even closer to me in distance).

So, what I have found on Etsy is that people work hard to make items I can't find at Walmart or Target. And, I like that! I like being able to sell my crochet and hand knit items there. Maybe someone will buy one! Maybe not.
Avon: I have heard many stories from other reps on how Avon helped them through times of financial trouble. As a worldwide company, I LOVE that you have given so many people opportunities. I work a bit on my Avon business each day. I love it. I love the discount that I get. I love the smiles on peoples faces when I bring them their products. I love how I have met people and made friends. Both these companies have helped me to grow and even helped me in my full time career.

That's what I am thankful for this holiday season. Sure, I do want tons of sales, but I am proud to be a member of these companies---and I think that has helped me grow inside and out.

Auto Emails and what it means to be an Independent Contractor

I sell Avon. I am an Independent Sales Rep, which means I am not an employee of Avon. I spend my own money, just like it was my own business...because it is my business, and I work very hard at it.

Today, a mass email was sent out to my customers advertising a black friday/cyber monday sale. Someone sent an email back very upset, telling me they don't like these *&$% products, and stop sending them these emails.

Funny, I thought. This person is on my customer list because they wanted a
free sample of In Bloom. They emailed me and gave me their personal
information---on their own---to get this free sample. Now, they are
mad. Besides, it clearly states on the bottom of the email that you can
unsubscribe at any time by clicking at the correct spot. I don't feel I
should do this for you. You asked me to mail you (yep, my own stamp cost
42 cents. The envelope costs 2 cents. The paper I printed my thank
you on (including the cost of ink) cost 1 cent. The sample cost me 10
cents. That is already 55 cents I invested in the possibility that you
might buy that (or another) Avon product. Now, I had over 300
requests....so guess what I spent (not including time) when I ran that free
sample promotion??? Avon did not pay for anything....because I am an Independent Contractor...just like every other Avon Lady. So, to those that are upset at me----get a life. I spent 55 cents on you plus my time. You got a free sample that you should not have asked for if you had no intention other than to get something free for the sake of getting something for nothing.

I love selling Avon. Some people don't like Avon, and that's fine. I don't like L'Oreal. I don't like Estee Lauder. I like Clinique. I like Maybelline. I don't like Cover Girl. Everyone has their own preferences and everyone is entitled to that.

However, if you need to be rude and obscene to someone, you are not making your point. You are looking like nothing but an Ass.

It does not hurt my feelings to unsubscribe from my emails. They are sent automatically. I, myself, get tons of emails everyday (I average over 200 in the inbox, not including spam, daily). Most are ads from places I subscribed. When I no longer want them, I check 'unsubscribe'. No harm done.

I brought pink and white striped scarf to work on today at work during my down times. So far, my etsy shop has had only one sale, but it was a scarf.
